Mountain Carts, or soapbox racers, have a long and honored history. The fun of racing vehicles powered only by gravity has been an exciting part of summer for generations (with formal races in held in many countries for over 80 years).

In the US, the sport became popular in the late ’40s, 50s and 60s. Boys’ Life magazine reported in May 1959 that about three million people witnessed or took part in some form of soapbox race each year. Some of these races drew over 75,000 spectators!

Gravity Coasters capture the fun of a soapbox racer, and combine it with the lean-to-turn agility of skiing, and the off-road excitement of a mountain bike. Downhill fun just got way cooler!
